The start of a New Year is the perfect time to turn a new page, which is probably why so many of us create New Year's Resolutions. A New Year often feels like a fresh start, a great opportunity to eliminate bad habits and establish new routines. Of course, resolutions are much easier to make than to keep, and by the end of January many of us have abandoned our resolve and settled back into our old patterns.
Here at Simming247 we've put together some tips to help you stick to your New Year's Resolutions and achieve your goals.
1. Choose a Specific, Realistic Goal
Every year millions of us resolve to lose weight or get in shape during the year, Instead of selecting such an ambiguous goal, focus on something more concrete that you can realistically set your sights on. Commit to losing five pounds or running a marathon. Choosing a concrete, achievable goal gives you the opportunity to plan exactly how you are going to achieve your goal over the course of the year.
2. Pick Just One Resolution
While all of us have a long list of goals, pick just one and focus your energies on it - that way you avoid spreading yourself two thin.
3. Start With Small Steps
Taking on too much means your New Year's Resolutions are more likely to fail. Dramatically slashing calories or over-doing it at the gym are surefire ways of ensuring you binge or burn out. Want to run a marathon? Work with a personal trainer to develop a fitness plan and slowly increase your training. Want to lose weight? Cut out junk food and introduce more nutritious foods into your diet. Although it may seem like a slow start, these small changes make it easier to develop new habits and stick to your goals.
4. Remember That Change Is Progress
Unhealthy habits can take years to develop, so how can you expect to change them in a matter of days or weeks? It may take longer than you would like to achieve your goals, ut remember this is not a race to the finish.
5. Don't Let Small Stumbles Bring You Down
Don't beat yourself up for missing a gym session or succumbing to a slice of cake. We all encounter setbacks, the most important thing is to acknowledge it and move on.
6. Get Support From Your Friends and Family
Having a support system in friends and family can help you stay motivated. Better still, join an exercise group or swap diet tips with a friend.
7. Renew Your Motivation
During January you probably felt confident and highly motivated to reach your goal. After dealing with the reality of dragging yourself to the gym on a cold February morning or resisting warming comfort food you may find your resolve weakening. When you face such moments remind yourself exactly why you are doing this, and what you have to gain by achieving your goal.
8. Use Diet Aids To Support
Sometimes we all need a little help to stay on track. Here at Slimming247 we have a range of diet aids to help you reach your weightloss goals. Appetite suppressants can kick start a diet, and T5 fat burners can give you the energy you need to get through those 6am gym sessions.

Posted on July 11th 2011 at 03:49pm0 CommentsAnd let’s be honest who can really blame us? We get a limited amount of time to ourselves every evening; the majority of us would rather spend time with our partner, children or friends than prepare tomorrows lunch, go to the gym or cook a fancy meal which takes three hours to prepare, so no wonder why the number of us choosing convenience foods is on the rise and the likes of Starbucks pop up on every high street!
Stress, a poor diet and long working hours can increase tiredness, weaken the body, cause wrinkles and increase an individuals likelihood of developing health problems; however vitamin supplements such as a<life Moringa can be used to combat these issues as it improves an your immune system and general well being. The anti – oxidants in a<life Moringa will help delay the aging process and protect the body from heart disease. In the corporate world we constantly use computers and read documents which can strain our eyes. However, a<life Moringa’s vitamin A content can help combat this issue.
I will be the first to admit when it hits 4pm I often find myself becoming increasingly lethargic and I know I’m not the only one. The haemoglobin content in a<life Moringa increases the oxygen supply to the brain so it’s functionally is stimulated and your mental clarity should improve, so maybe you won’t need that 4pm coffee after all!
Many factors can cause an individual to develop depression including their environment, genetics, medical conditions and their psychological view of themselves. Although this is not widely discussed we at slimming247 have read many medical articles and publications which recognise a link between poor nutrition and depression which can contribute to its start, severity and duration. Research by the University College London found strong links between what we eat and the state of our mental health as those who ate lots of fruit, vegetables and fish have a lower risk of developing depression than those consuming processed foods. Those who ate whole foods had a 26% lower risk of future depression compare to those on a diet of high processed foods who had a 58% higher risk of developing future depression. As a result it should be no surprise that depression can also be linked to poor vitamin intake. During the onset of developing depression many individuals often have a poor appetite, skip meals and have an increased desire for sweets. However if this is reversed it can help to preventing bouts of depression and contribute to a faster recovery.
To prevent depression or contribute to a faster recovered it is important to minimise your intake of processed foods especially refined sugar and caffeine. You should replace sweets and junk food snacks with fruit as they contain natural sugar (the good kind!), nuts, oat cakes or rice cakes. It is extremely important to have a well balanced diet so focus on eating salads, vegetables, avocados, pulses, chicken and wholegrains to help improve your vitamin intake. Remember to eat three meals a day and drink plenty of water. Try to avoid fried foods, processed meats e.g. cured meats and high fat dairy products e.g. full fat milk. Always read food labels to check for ‘hidden’ sugar content, you might be surprised at how much rubbish is actually in the food we eat!
It is also very important to consume essential vitamins as nutrient inbalances can lead to depression. So it would be worthwhile to have a vitamin supplement such as a<life Moringa which has similar benefits to acai and is bursting with more nutritional value than most common foods as is the world’s richest source of vitamins and minerals. It contains all the essential amino acids, vitamins and nutrients to help you achieve a healthy lifestyle.
Not only will these changes reduce the chance of developing depression it will help increase your alertness, energy, concentration levels and improve your general wellbeing and trust me you will feel a lot better for it!
Look out for daily tweets, MySpace and Facebook updates to find out more about which foods help combat depression!
